What we do
All About Special Education helps families find and access the services their children need. Our searchable directory covers every stage of development: Early Intervention for babies and toddlers from birth to age 3, preschool special education (CPSE) for ages 3 to 5, and school-age special education (CSE) for ages 5 to 21. Families can also find related services such as speech, occupational, and physical therapy; independent evaluations; family support programs; and advocacy organizations. Every listing can be filtered by county, age group, insurance and payment options, and the languages a provider offers — so you can find help that actually fits your family.
Who it's for
The directory is built primarily for parents and caregivers navigating special education for the first time, but it also serves young adults requesting college and graduate school accommodations, teachers and service coordinators pointing families toward resources, and advocates helping clients understand their rights. Beyond the directory, plain-language guides explain the Early Intervention referral process, the parts of an IEP, family rights under state and federal law, and the history of the disability rights movement — and our AI assistants offer step-by-step help with finding services, preparing for school meetings, requesting college accommodations, and reaching crisis support.

All About Special Education is built and maintained by a small independent team of parents, special educators, and disability advocates, working to make New York's complex system of services easier to understand. We are not a government agency, and we do not endorse any specific provider — listings are informational, compiled from publicly available resources, and reviewed regularly for accuracy.
